Bary Roberts

Board of Directors

Bary Roberts, the founder and CEO of DDD Servicios Estratégicos and former CEO of Tikal Tours, has been a prominent figure in Costa Rica's sustainable tourism industry for over four decades. His journey began with a small travel agency, which evolved into a leading provider of ecotourism experiences in Costa Rica. Roberts played a pivotal role in introducing the concept of "ecotourism" to the country and was instrumental in the development of the Certificate for Sustainable Tourism, a key certification system for green tour operators and hotels in Costa Rica. Throughout his career, Roberts has emphasized the importance of responsible tourism practices, advocating for the integration of corporate social responsibility into all aspects of the industry. Reflecting on his experiences, he highlights the need for strategic planning, vision, and ethical principles to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of Costa Rica's tourism sector.

Andrea Prado

Board of Directors

Andrea M. Prado, Associate Professor at INCAE Business School, occupies the Strachan Chair for Philanthropy and Social Investment. Her research focuses on corporate social responsibility strategies, particularly their impact on sustainable development and low-income segments. Prado also explores industry self-regulation initiatives to promote environmental and labor practices in emerging economies. She has received international recognition for her work and served as the Academic Director of the Central American Healthcare Initiative, dedicated to improving healthcare access in the region. With a PhD in Management and Organizations from New York University, Prado brings extensive expertise to her role at CET.

Victor Umaña

Board of Directors

As Director of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) at the INCAE Business School, he brings extensive expertise in analyzing the competitive and sustainable performance of the region. His leadership includes roles in regional and international organizations, as well as in the Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Trade, where he led crucial negotiations, including the FTAs with Canada and CAFTA. He has also advised governments and international organizations on agricultural policies, sustainable development, and competitiveness in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Additionally, he is a frequent contributor to regional publications on these topics.
